T-REX Project and Race Against Waste run a Textile Race in Dutch schools

The T-REX Project consortium is launching a collaboration with Race Against Waste in a joint mission to inspire more people to participate in the transition to a circular economy, and help beat the ever mounting issue of discarded textiles.

Across the months of September and October, Race Against Waste and the T-REX Project are teaming up to run the Textile Race in Westland in the Netherlands

The race will start with a guest lecture where the children learn more about the textile industry and what needs to change. The 7 teams (from 5 schools) will compete to collect as much end-of-use textiles as possible to re-enter the textiles stream for recycling. In addition, the participating children are encouraged to carry out extra assignments in which they gain experience with all steps of the R-ladder for circularity; for example, with a clothing swap (‘Re-use’ step) or a clothing repair session (‘Repair’ step) they can gain extra points.
