The textiles industry faces major environmental challenges, from high carbon emissions to overwhelming amounts of post-consumer waste. To tackle these issues, the T-REX Project has been working to build a blueprint for a closed-loop system for textiles.
This report dives into the development and testing of a pilot data model aimed at improving how textile waste information is shared across the value chain. Right now, data is often scattered, non-standardised, and paper-based. Our pilot explored ways to digitise and streamline this process, laying the groundwork for more efficient chemical recycling.
In addition to covering the objectives and lessons from the pilot, the report offers insights into the role of Digital Product Passports (DPPs) in the textile waste supply chain and outlines practical next steps to drive circularity forward.
