Join the Spring Cleaning activities by Aalto University

Starting 23 April, Aalto University is organising a clothing exchange and workshop series in Finland as part of the citizen engagement activities for the T-REX Project.

The event is co-ordinated by Associate Professor Kirsi Niinimäki and doctoral researcher Kasia Gorniak from the Fashion/Textile Futures research group, with workshops facilitated by Aalto students, staff and alumni.

Workshops are free to attend (but registration is necessary):

  • Applique Mending Workshop for Socks and Clothes with Marja Niemi | Thursday 25th April, 14:30-17:00
  • Upcycling workshop with Thekla Weisskopf & Regina Kazanjian | Friday 26th April, 13:00-15:30
  • Care for Clothes workshop with Mirei Kato | Monday 29th April, 13:00-15:30
  • Mending  workshop with Minttu Wikberg & Seams Helsinki | Monday 29th April, 16:00-18:00
  • Actionable stories – Why do I upcycle/recycle? Pop-in workshop with Elina Lewe & Jamila Juzer Siamwalla | Tuesday 30th April, 10:00-16:00
  • Material Library workshop with Jenni Väänänen-Lauterbach | Thursday 2nd May, 15:00-17:30
  • Quilting workshop with Shweta Dash | Friday 3rd May, 9:30-12:00
